ABOUT THE COURSE:

Health and safety issues are viewed as aspects of vital importance across all industries today.  Inadequate risk assessment and failure to follow recommended controls are common causes of serious accidents.  It is therefore essential to follow a robust hazard identification and risk assessment process to ensure any risks generated is effectively evaluated and controlled.

Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) is one of the core elements of health and safety management. It is one of the fundamental tasks that an organization must undertake to demonstrate its commitment to safety by preventing and controlling hazards as well as in conformance with OHSAS 18001:2007 standard. Besides this, it is also one the requirements under the increasingly stringent Health and Safety Legislations. The legislations require an employer to make hazard identification and risk assessment to reduce and prevent legal safety violations and indeed risk assessments form the lynchpin of Health and Safety Management.

The course will provide knowledge and hands-on experience through various practical exercises and case studies. This means the delegates will leave with the ability to carry out Hazard Identification and risk assessments in their workplaces. Delegates will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Mr. N. Subramonia Pillai is a safety expert having experience over 3 decades in the field of Occupational Safety. He has conducted lot of hazard identification and risk assessment studies, and training programmes on Safety in various Industries. Mr. Pillai is Faculty Member for National Safety Council, Annamalai University, National Power Training Institute (Govt. of India), MUSTI, ALWAYE, AIIFE, Regional Labour Institute, Chennai (Govt. India) and other private & public enterprises. He has also published a number white papers and books on various topics of Occupational Safety.

Mr. G. Suresh is a safety professional having vast experience in the field of Occupational Safety. He is a professional trainer and has been involved in implementation of OHSAS 18001 and best safety practices in various Industries. Mr. Suresh is a qualified Auditor, who also has a number of risk assessment projects and training programmes to his credit.

This classroom based course is highly interactive.  All our courses use accelerated learning where possible. Courses use PowerPoint slides and other multimedia tools, where appropriate viz. photographs, video clips, etc. Number of practical examples and case studies are given throughout the course.

Delegate will be given a comprehensive set of delegate notes containing copies of the course notes with addition reading material which proves to be an excellent source of reference after the course
